A personal peeve of mine for this edition, fishing.
I don't like it in games full stop, it annoys and bores me and it's all the fault of Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. You had the cool and fast levels with Sonic and Tails and then every now and then you had to break for the most annoying and frustrating levels with Big the Cat fishing for Froggy which was so pointless to the game.
I love the Legend of Zelda games but cannot stand the fishing sections, if they are optional at least I can leave them, but I'm currently playing Twilight Princess on the Wii and got completely stuck on the fishing section. I admit I just could not seem to grasp it and part of it is due to the fact that it bores me and therefore I just didn't have the patience to master it, my own fault I know but I still hate fishing in games.
Very annoying.
I can definitely see where you're coming from with fish annoyance. I don't really dislike it, but it's not on the top of my "to do list" in any game.
ReplyDeleteBig the Cat is probably responsible for making many gamers loath one of the world's favorite past times. I played only about 10 minutes as the brainless oaf before I stopped, never to play as him again.
what about shooting fish in resi 4 :-)
ReplyDeleteFunny, I just finished reading a post on RG forum where someone was professing their love of the fishing in Zelda: OoT. He said it was his favourite part of the game. Is that what inspired the post?
ReplyDeleteI actually enjoyed the fishing in Animal Crossing, but then I found myself doing many things in that game I never would have dreamed I would enjoy.
I was going to say, I think it was Ocarina of Time that started it. I didn't mind it in that as a little side-quest thing but I wouldn't want to HAVE to mess about with fishing. Like Marc, I quite enjoy it in Animal Crossing though :)
ReplyDeleteJD: That's my favourite way to fish. :-)
ReplyDeleteMarc: It was because I put Twilight Princess on for the first time in eleven months as I was stuck at the fishing section. Couldn't grasp it and it did my head in so I stopped playing until recently. Have since managed to get past it and have now completed the game.
