Pandora's Tower
Yesterday the UK received the final game in the Xenoblade Chronicles/The Last Story/Pandora's Tower trilogy and like the previous two games it came in a limited edition version which I just had to own.
Unlike The Last Story there wasn't a CD included but there was still the game in a normal box, a steel box and an art book all wrapped in a lovely looking box. I do think that all of the art on the various pieces do look really nice, especially on the steel box.
As a bonus for pre-ordering from HMV I also received an extra art book covering all three games and another box that stores the art book and all three normal boxes of the games.
Finally, as an extra bonus on top of that, due to registering all three games on the Nintendo website I am now eligible to receive a box containing three coins which relate to each game. The coins can be viewed here and I really hope that I do receive them as it would be the cherry on top of the cake.

Pixel Nation
Regular readers of my blog will know all about the site and magazine that I support and write for, NES-Bit.com. Well Lorfarius the creator of said site/magazine has been working flat out to unleash Pixel Nation, a website dedicated to the publishing of independent magazines through both print and PDF format.
At present there are currently six books featured including Pixel Nation issue one, Pixellation issue one and of course NES-Bit issue one (which is FREE).

Completed Games March 2012
Soul Bubbles - DS
Super Mario Galaxy - Wii
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
Three games completed in March and three games that I really enjoyed for different reasons.
Soul Bubbles was a simple but fun game with the ice levels being particularly fun. I did have some doubts when it came to Mario Galaxy due to the hype surrounding it but I have to say that I found it to be absolutely fantastic and I didn't stop playing until I had completed all 120 stars.
Finally, I'd been wanting to play Hotel Dusk for a while and whilst I found it a little slow going at first I did eventually start to really get into it and was a little disappointed when I had finished it.
All in all three really good games completed last month.

The situation at Game, pt 5
It's been a week already since my last post regarding the situation at Game and since then there has been some good news with the fact that today they came out of administration due to OpCapita finally securing the sale of the UK stores to Baker Acquisitions Limited.
It's great news for the staff at the remaining stores in the UK, unfortunately not for the staff at the other stores around the world which are still up for sale. Also not good news for the staff who were made redundant and who are having to fight to receive their money, including in Ireland where staff are having sit-ins in the stores.
It was also announced today that the former MD of Gamestation Martyn Gibbs (who was MD back in 2007 when Game and Gamestation merged) will be returning to the company as the new CEO.
Finally, after all this news, it was announced that Game has requested to be completely removed from the London Stock Exchange, meaning that shareholders will possibly not gain anything at all from the sale.
So after weeks of rumours and bad news it finally looks like that things may possibly be looking up, at least for the remaining staff. Let's just hope that Game have learnt some lessons along the way.

The situation at Game, pt 4
Regular readers of this blog may have noticed that there wasn't an update on Game yesterday, that's because up until yesterday everything was just rumours and today we were going to get official news, well sadly that news is not good.
This morning Game officially entered administration resulting in upcoming store closures resulting in potentially thousands of job losses.
There is still a slim chance that someone may step in and purchase the entire company but the more likely scenario may be numerous companies stepping in and stripping Game of its best assets. Either way the future is now looking very bleak for the future of Game.
UPDATE:
Well a lot has happened since my original post early this afternoon and all of it horrendous news.
Shortly after I hit publish on the post the first stores started to close and continued through out the day resulting in 277 closures and an astonishing 2,104 job losses, absolutely terrible news for the staff. Five of those stores were near me, three that I really was not surprised about but two of them were in towns where it will be a big blow to the area. One of the stores was not that far from me and was a store where I picked up a fair bit of stuff and was slowly getting to know the staff.
Along side the store closures and job losses both the Game and Gamestation websites shut down and Game also announced that they were pretty much suspending anything and everything to do with reward cards, gift cards, returns/exchanges, pre-orders and pre-owned meaning that effectively or you can do in a game store is buy a game,
All in all it's been a horrible day for Game staff and for the UK economy.

Mario towels
I have a couple of days off work so thought that in between the gaming I would do some sorting of all of the stuff that we have in the house, of which there is a lot off.
So when sorting through some black bags I found these:
I cannot remember how long I've had them but it's certainly been a few years, possibly even up to twenty years. I do remember using the beach towel when I went on holiday to the coast all those many years ago but beyond that I really cannot remember anything else. Maybe one day the memories will come flooding back but for now I can enjoy the ones that I can remember.

Replay Expo 2012
It was announced yesterday that this years Replay Expo will be undertaking some changes, changes which include the name, place and dates.
Whilst the new name hasn't yet been revealed it was announced that the Expo has been moved from it's Blackpool home of the past two years to Manchester and that instead of the usual November the Expo will now be held in October, 13th and 14th to be precise.
Though I was due to attend last years event, unfortunately I had to give it a miss at the last minute due to moving house. This year though I will definitely be there and if anyone who reads this blog is then come and say hello.
