10th Anniversary of the X-Box

Today for Europe is the tenth anniversary of the original X-box being released, ten whole years, a whole decade has passed since Microsoft first entered the console market.

I never owned one myself as at the time I was taking a break from gaming due to starting to grow up and getting a job/GF etc but I would like to honour the achievement.

I do currently own a couple of X-Box games that I play on my 360 which are The Thing, Jade Empire and Panzer Dragoon Orta which I find enjoyable to play, The Thing being quite a good game I find.

So despite what you may think of Microsoft lets celebrate ten years of the X-Box and of Microsoft entering the console market.

  1. Happy birthday xbox! I played so many amazing titles on xbox. Sure I love my gamecube but back in the day of the big three buying an xbox was one of the best decisions I'd ever made. I subsequently named PS2 the graystation.

Superb graphics, a great controller, custom soundtracks (I loved that feature) and some awesome games. Some of my best game memories include: Half Life 2, Splinter Cell, 3 player Conflict Desert Storm with custom soundtracks, Grand Theft Auto: Double Pack, Burnout 3: Takedown, Ninja Gaiden: Black, Rallisport Challenge 2, Star Wars Battlefront, Fahrenheit, Sniper Elite, of course local Halo 2 multiplayer, Freedom Fighters, Sega GT 2002 and finally.... Shenmue 2!

  2. Can't believe it's been ten years! I remember being at school when it first came out - it was the must-have Christmas present for that year and everybody was going on about it. Amazing that that was ten years ago...

I have to admit that I've got more unplayed games than completed ones on the Xbox and it isn't my favourite system by far but there are some pretty interesting exclusives available for the black slab. Just a shame that some of the consoles have crappy DVD drives though.
